MARINE PARADE RADIO CONTROL MODELLERS CLUB
JUNE 2006
NEWS IN BRIEF

Top 4 qualifiers of the 10th scale, Iwamoto, Bertin,
Tanaka & CH Tay. Below Left: Team Singapore.
Below Right: The new Team Magic 10th scale.
Hello fellow members of the Marine Parade RCMC. How have you been doing? Work is catching up on me so this issue a little later than usual. Highlights for this issue would be the following:

2006 Singapore Invitational Challenge 2 – Gas Powered on road on 29th & 30th July 2006.

2006 iFMAR World Championship 1/8th Gas Powered Buggy – We have one more seat, if you are interested; remember to check out the details.

Following up on the feedback from our cleaner auntie, I had wind that the person who was wee wee~ing at the rear of our driver stand is not our member. He is an elderly gentleman who comes by in his 8th scale on a motorbike on the early morning hours during weekdays. By any chance if you know of this gentleman, the club and all our paid up members would be most appreciated if you could help us counsel him. Thanks in advance.

At the same time, it would really help if members would remember to lock up the gate when they leave the track.

Gas Powered On-Road Race Events
Thanks for all your support and participation at the June 4th event. Mr. Sunny Hee is the Race Director and Mr. Eddie Lee is the Official Time Keeper at Race Control.
The minor track modifications have been completed, Mr Sunny Hee may need some volunteers to help him re-paint the yellow track side line. So if there are any kind souls out there, please contact Mr Sunny Hee.

Electric Powered On-Road Race Events
There had been some changes in the management of events. You may want to contact Stargek for any clarifications on the remaining runs of this event.

Electric Powered Off-road eventsIt seems that after much effort, the organizers got the event off the ground. However, the weather was not agreeable to the arrangement and the heavy downpour mars the commendable efforts of all the volunteers. Do keep watch on upcoming announcements; we would hope to see this get off the ground. And hopefully there would be enough interests generated for the 2007 iFMAR World Championships that would be scheduled to be in Japan.

If you need further details please contact either Hobbylink or iHobby – proprietors of the Turf City facility; RC@Turf.

Mr C. H. Tay is our sole entrant at Taiwan. Tay was swamped with radio problems from the start. Fortunately he was able to get one clean run, with it, he qualified 4th by the end of the heats. The top 4 positions were allowed to sit out the semis, so Tay
got directly into the main finals. In the main final, Tay’s radio problems returned to haunt him and he finally finished 6th overall with 199 laps at 1:00:25.691. A formidable effort by Tay and the final positions were:

MARINE PARADE RADIO CONTROL MODELLERS CLUB MAY 2006
NEWS IN BRIEF

Hello fellow members of the Marine Parade RCMC. How have you been doing? Highlights for the month of April 2006, would be the following

1/8th scale Internal Combustion (IC) gas on road and 1/10th scale International Scale Touring Cars (ISTC) 200mm Gas Powered (GP) cars on 4th June 2006.

And not forgetting the next biggie; our 2006 Singapore Invitational Challenge 2 – Gas Powered on road on 29th & 30th July 2006.

I visited the East Coast Track recently and the cleaner auntie gave me these feedbacks:

a. More and more tables are missing; she found users leaving them next to the gate after use and due to ‘b’ many have been missing. Please help to move the tables back.
b. The gate has not been properly locked after use. Please remember to lock up the gate when you leave.
c. She found a strong urine stench at the rear of the driver stand. She doe not have the resources to clear it.
d. She also found someone pulling a plastic dustbin to the back of the driver stand and urinated into it.

Members please help us to maintain at least the minimum level of decency and hygiene at the facility. Ben Seet and Andrew Chin, please support and assist Mr Sunny Hee in maintaining the facility. Thanks in advance.

The first series will start in May 2006. A total of 5 events spanning the months of May, June, July, August and September 2006 shall be used. If all five Top Ten Finalists of the Buggy Challenge
From Top Right: Wenyi, Ah M, Glenn, Andri, Sam, Indra, Joe, Craig, Danny & Lin Hup
events have enough interests; we will use the best 3 of 5 event results. However, we realise that this class does not have a large enough following at the moment. So, we will be prepared to go for 3 best of 4, or 3 best of 3, or 2 best of 2, or 1 best of 1, and finally we really hope that we don’t have to ditch the series.
If you need further details please contact either Hobbylink or iHobby – proprietors of the Turf City facility; RC@Turf.events have enough interests; we will use the best 3 of 5 event results. 2006 Singapore Invitational Challenge 1
1/8th scale gas powered off-road buggy

The event completed successfully. We had great weather on Saturday, 22nd April 2006 and we were able to complete the 3 rounds of heats by 5:00pm. We had a slight delay in the morning over logistics and the Saturday early bird draw of HN tires (4 tire sets with rims), sponsored by HMW Hobbies Trading, was won by:
Pason Phua, Yap. Ben Seet, Jason Long, James, Razif, Pegan Teo, Faizal, Adrian Wong and Izam Sallim

On day 2, Sunday, 23rd April 2006, we manage to finish off round 4 of the heats with great weather. However, while we were sorting the results for the finals, the sky opened up and the timetable got delayed by about 2.5 hours. We make up for lost time, we reduce the sub-final duration from the original 20 minutes to 15 minutes and we were finally able to finish off by 6:15pm with a 35 minute Truck Final and a 45 minute Buggy Main Final.

We had guests from Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. Guests from Thailand and Taiwan were not able to make it at the eleventh hour.
The Sunday early bird draw of a pair of Proline tires, sponsored by Toykar, was won by:
Glenn Phuah, Craig Laughton, Razif, Norhakim, Syaaf, Sam Cheng, Danny Teh, Rashid, Lui Man Yat aka Wenyi, and Alvin Goh

The top positions of the Truck event were:
First: Mr. Andri Hartanto of Indonesia
Second: Mr. Craig Laughton of Australia
Third: Mr. Yeo Seong Leng (Ah Leng) of Singapore

The truck event was closely fought amongst the top two positions, Andri and Craig. Andri drove a near flawless race, although Craig clearly had a faster truck. All this while, Ah Leng was trailing nicely behind the two front runners in the final race. Let’s hope that this event would generate more interest in gas powered trucks for future events.

The top positions of the Buggy event were:
Position: Driver Car Engine Country
1st: Glenn Phuah Xray RB Singapore
2nd: Goh (Ah M) HN STS Singapore
3rd: Andri Hartanto Sacker OS Indonesia

The Top Qualifier from the qualifying heats is none other than our very own Glenn Phuah.
Position: Driver Car Engine Country
4th: Sam Cheng Xray RB Singapore
5th: Danny Teh Mugen STS Malaysia
6th: Lui Man Yat (Wenyi) HN RB Singapore
7th: Lim Lin Hup GS RB Singapore
8th: Indra Liono HN - Indonesia
9th: Craig Laughton HB - Australia
10th: Joe Hwee HB OS Singapore
The Buggy event was very closely fought amongst the top 4 positions. The pit crew grew more and more excited as they race each other and exchange positions periodically. Glenn deserve his win 100%, he drove his XB8TQ more consistently than the rest and was able to stay the course. Our good old Sam Cheng was in 4th and he fought hard, at times we could see him catch right up to the tail of Andri, but luck was not quite blowing his way at this event. It was only up till the 42nd minute that the positions were stabilised and they all finish up nicely. It was a very exciting race; it would be a shame if you had missed it.
If you did miss it, don’t worry, look out for either Mr Sia (Tai Sing) or Mr Kenny Chua, they were our two unofficial videographers on the driver stand throughout both the truck and buggy final. I am sure they will be most happy to show you what they have shot.
In the final lucky draw, the 3 Spektrum T-shirts and the Spektrum DX3 set, sponsored by JPL Racing were won by:
1. Mr Pegan
2. Mr Indra Liono of Indonesia
3. Mr Ryu Goh
Mr Joe Hwee won the DX3 radio set.
HMW Hobbies Trading also managed to help us obtain, from Hong Nor, a Factory Team Pro Kit of the X1CR. This was won by Mr Razif. Who, if you have notice was also the winner of both early bird draw. So the top winner of this event is actually Mr Razif.
Tai Sing Corporation (Pte) Ltd sponsored two RTR Lightning 10 kits and they were won by:
1. Mr Danny Teh
2. Mr Lui Man Yat (Wenyi)
Well, we are all indeed very grateful to our sponsors for their generosity. And we must also not forget the other sponsors, Mr Danny Teh, Mr Syaaf for the 10 cartons of drinking water and Mr Chai Kok Chin (HPC) for the packs of exhaust silicon gaskets that were given out to all participants.
The 2006 Singapore Invitational Challenge 2
